Cherry Mobile Flare Unboxing and Flare Day

The much talked about phone from Cherry Mobile was finally released last November 17, 2012 in SM City North EDSA and Robinsons Mall Manila. The event dubbed as #FlareDay was attended by eager 'Flarenatics' who patiently waited for the Mall's opening to be one of the first few to get their hands in Cherry Mobile's newest offering.

As early as 8am, eager soon-to-be owners of the Cherry Mobile Flare patiently waited for the malls opening to be part of the first 50 buyers per branch who will received a nice bonus with their purchase, a brand new Powerbank mobile charge with a price tag of 1,000php! I was actually one of those early people who fell in line at SM City North EDSA to get this unit.

As soon as the mall opens at 10am, people rushed (Read: Run-like-hell-in-temple-run-style-from-the-lower-floors-to-the-fourth-floor-kind-of-rush) to be part of the first 50 and to also get the 400 slots for the first batch of these cheap but nice phone. I also ran like hell and made it to the 48th spot, here we are all tired and drained from the early morning 'run'.

So if you're wondering why did people did all that running to spend money on the Cherry Mobile FLARE, then here's the specs of the Cherry Mobile Flare for you to see why.

Cherry Mobile Flare Specs:

  • Qualcomm MSM8625 Snapdragon S4 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • Adreno 203 GPU
  • 4.0″ IPS capacitive touch panel (800 x 480)
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • up to 32GB via microSD
  • 3G / HSDPA
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • GPS w/ aGPS support
  • Dual-SIM, Dual-Standby
  • 5-megapixel rear camera with flash
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • No FM Radio
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 1500mAh battery
  • 152 grams
  • SRP: Php 3,999.00

Yep, that's not a typo right there on the price, it actually costs so much less than other phones in the market with the same specs! So this is definitely a steal specially for those who are on a very tight budget but wants to get their hands in a decent android smartphone.

I made a quick unboxing video and a little comments in the end for you to watch while I play with my new phone to give you a more in-depth review in the coming days. :)

PS: Pardon the noisy background. TEEHEE!

  2. So far, it can keep up with everyday normal use. But like most smart phones, it you don't manage your phone right, battery will be drained fast. :)
