Get Your Buffalo's Wings n' Things Fix During Quarantine!

These past few months has been a weird time for everyone around the globe. The COVID-19 pandemic left the world to a strong halt with businesses, schools, and daily life took a break to contain the spread of this deadly disease. Over here in the Philippines, the Enhanced Community Quarantine left everyone staying at home and avoiding contact with the outside world - this means your food cravings are also limited due to closed malls.

I am a true blue fan of Buffalo's Wings n Things and it's been my favorite ever that I've been dining there since a decade ago (we even go out of our way and travel from Quezon City to Home Depot in Pasig to visit their restaurant, thank goodness they opened more branches over the past years in different parts of the metro). During the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), one of the things I miss are their famous chicken wings and tenders, unfortunately as the malls are closed and I cannot do this together with other restaurants I normally go to.

If you're like me who misses dining at your favorite Buffalo's Wings n' Things then here's some good news, they now deliver your favorite chicken flavor experience cravings straight to your home! This made me so excited and I also found out that you can order through different ways so there's no excuse for you not to order again.

If you're curious, here are the branches that are open during Enhanced Community Quarantine:

- Brixton Kapitolyo, Pasig
- Banawe, QC
- Calle Bistro, Ever Gotesco Commonwealth
- BGC Stopover
- SM Manila
- Grace Mall, Taguig
- SM North EDSA

The branches above serve areas around their respective vicinity through same-day food delivery apps Grab Food, Lalafood, and Food Panda, just search Buffalo's Wings n' Things in the search bar.

If you cannot order through the food apps, there's still a way to experience the flavor experience by ordering directly through Buffalo's Wings n' Things, just go to https://bit.ly/BWNTOrderForm. It can be via pick-up or delivery via Lalamove and Mr Speedy with the courier fee shouldered by the customer. Delivery is free for a minimum spend of Php 1,200 so make sure to take advantage of that. And oh a quick note, you'll need to order a day in advance through this channel so make sure to plan ahead.

The BWNT Flavor Experience at Home

Buffalo's Wings n' Things must've felt I was craving so much of their flavorful chicken that they recently surprised me earlier this week and sent over a surprise lunch package at home. Full disclosure, it was really not a planned treat, they just reached out and said they'll be sending some treat - I was ecstatic that after almost a month, I'll be able to enjoy some of their delicious food items at home and for free!

They sent over their Fam Time Bundle which includes 9 pieces of their delicious Cuts which are different cuts of chicken covered in their famous sauces - I personally love their Creamy Salted Egg sauce, it's just the right amount of creaminess and spice. It also includes 12 pieces of their yummy chicken tenders which my mom personally loves, according to her she's lazy picking out bones so this is perfect for her.

In case you were wondering, the Fam Time Bundle goes for 888php and includes 9 cuts with choice of 3 flavors and your choice of 12 wings or 12 tenders, it's good for 5 to 6 persons, perfect for the fam!

So if you're craving to experience some flavor experience that is Buffalo's Wings n' Things, make sure to order to take away your quarantine cravings away. Check out their official Facebook page and Instagram for promos and updates. Let's dig in!

Sumo Niku at The SM North Towers, is it worth it?

In search of everything delicious in the metro, we stumbled upon a new unlimited yakiniku place in the newly opened wing of SM City North EDSA called the North Towers in Quezon City. We gave it a try, so read on and see if it's worth it.

sumo-niku-north-towers-review

Located in the second level of the two-level SM North Towers Mall, Sumo Niku offers Unlimited Yakiniku with different options and rates depending on the time of the day. They are under the same company of Yakimix and Buffet101. We visited it on a Sunday night and the wait time is pretty bearable.

They have a list system for seat reservations, the lady manning the reservations was a little unorganized with her list which needs improvement. We are 18th on the list so we told her we're just going around since there are no seats for those waiting but upon returning at 5-10 minutes, we were told our names had already been called and we had to get listed again. Later on we found out she just calls the name two times with a few seconds interval and if you're not there then tough luck.

After being seated, we settled down to our table and given the option on what Unlimited option we're going to enjoy. Sumo Niku offers two options, Pork + Chicken and Pork + Beef + Chicken, we opted for the 3 meat choices option which comes with unlimited side dishes and iced tea.  Here's their rates in case you can't see the photo below properly.

When we visited, their chicken meats are not available (but they are still charging the same for the 3-meat options), as for the side dishes only kimchi, okra, seaweeds, and cucumber are available which sucks a little since half of the side dishes menu are not available.

sumo-niku-side-dish

We started ordering and saw that we only have a maximum of 2 kinds of meat per order and we need to finish those before we can request for the next set of meats. Service is pretty okay at first, they served the drinks, rice, and side dishes right away. The side dishes taste great, especially the seaweeds and the miso soup.

sumo-niku-side-dishes

When the first order of meats arrived, we were a little disappointed on the serving size. Given that it's unlimited, I think they need to increase the serving size if they are limiting it to two kinds of meat per serving. We ordered the US Premium Beef and the Wagyu Beef, the US Premium beef has around 6 thin beef slices while the wagyu has around 7 small cubes of meat, that's already for the two of us in our table.

sumo-niku-premium-beef
sumo-niku-wagyu-beef

Their grills are equipped with those industrial style smoke catchers attached from the ceiling, so the smoke is bearable and you won't go out smelling like you actually got grilled. We started cooking and the first set of meats we ordered tastes great, especially wagyu cubes that literally as soft as clouds in your mouth.

After finishing our first set of meat, we started ordering the second set and this is where it went a little downhill in terms of service. We're not sure if they are understaffed or this is part of their technique to turn over tables faster but it took a solid 10-15 minutes for the second set of meat to arrive.

As the dinner rolls on, the wait time became longer and longer even for side dishes and drinks that we sometimes have to reorder again through another staff. Our table's grill keeps turning off too without us knowing why, we'll just notice our meats aren't cooking so we'll call on one of their staff to turn it on again - this kept happening until we finished our dinner.

Sumo Niku is pretty new but I do hope they improve their service fast as the first few months are crucial to newly opened businesses and negative experiences on first-time customers can make a huge impact on their restaurant's longevity. I'll give them a try again in a few months or so to see if they already improved service-wise.

New Favorite Snack: Gold Stack Honey Butter Potato Chips!

Recently, there was a craze in South Korea about a certain kind of potato chip snack that is not even advertised. Even KPOP stars are talking about it on social which made it even more hard to find in stores there and some resorted to reselling these chips online for almost $100 when it started becoming a trend!

So what's the fuzz with Honey Butter Chips that made Koreans crave so much for it? Well now you'll never have to wonder because you can enjoy these delicious chips without breaking your piggy bank with Gold Stack Honey Butter Potato Chips!

I recently discovered about Gold Stack Honey Butter Chips when I attended my first Blogapalooza: Horizons event where luckily, Gold Stack is one of the participants of the event and I managed to get a can of their chips by playing a simple game - it involves toppling down 6 cans of Gold Stack Honey Butter with just a balloon. More about Blogapalooza: Horizons here.

Now back to the chips, I admit that I love potato chips to the point that I even cook a batch from raw potatoes at home. Upon opening the can, you can already smell that sweet smell of butter and honey that's inviting you to just dig in.

Their chips are definitely thicker than the local chips we have in the market which makes the experience of eating it more enjoyable. As for the taste, it definitely packs a punch in terms of flavor as you can really taste the butter and honey taste without being too sweet.

Being used to the regularly salty taste of normal chips that we buy in the market, the taste might surprise you but it's definitely a great twist to our normal salty potato chips. I think this goes very well with some beer or even wine. We downed a whole tube of these stuff in just a few minutes, that's how good these chips are.

What's good about Gold Stack's honey Butter Chips is that it's 0% Transfat, 0% Cholesterol, and No Preservatives which makes it's guilt-free! We're pretty sure this will be the newest craze here in the Philippines just like in Korea.

So Where Can I Get My Gold Stack Honey Butter Chips?

Unlike in Korea, you don't have to shove your way through a thick crowd, buy online at much higher price, or even download an app to find where these Honey Butter Chips are available. You can conveniently get your Gold Stack Honey Butter Potato Chips on the stores in this link: Click Here

No branches near your area? Have them shipped! You may purchase online by filling up the form on this link or by getting in touch with Honey Stack via Viber / SMS, their number is 09178660912 .

Summer Recipe: Easy Sexy Chix Veggie Wrap!

It's summer again and it's time to cool down by heading to the nearest beach! But unfortunately we can't always do that. As I love experimenting in the kitchen, I'm always in search of easy recipes that can cool me down or give the summer feel and today I'm sharing you this easy recipe I created!

This easy recipe is called Easy Sexy Chix Veggie Wrap and doesn't require any cooking, perfect for summer days where it's really hot. The refreshing veggies together with the tangy Purefoods Sexy Chix Shredded Chicken Arrabiata creates a really refreshing dish.

This recipe is not only delicious but also really easy to prepare, great if you're on the go.

Easy Sexy Chix Veggie Wrap

Yield: 3-5
Preparation Time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 can Purefoods Sexy Chix Shredded Chicken Arrabiata
5 pcs Small Flour Tortilla
3 pcs Tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 pc Cucumber, sliced julienne
1 pack Lettuce, ripped into bite sized pieces
6 tbsp Yogurt
3 tbsp Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper

PROCEDURE:

Create the sauce by mixing the Yogurt and Olive Oil, mix it well until combined. Add a few pinches of salt and pepper to get the desired taste. Remember not to make it salty as the Purefoods Sexy Chix is already packed with wonderful flavors.

Now let's assemble your Sexy Chix Veggie Wrap! On a serving dish, place your Flour Tortilla and lay a few pieces of the lettuce leaves, the greens will help your tortillas not get soggy fast once you eat your veggie wrap.

Now add your diced tomatoes and cucumbers on top of the lettuce, the amount will now depend on your preference. I like a lot of cucumber strips on my wrap because I like its refreshing taste.

Now, it's time to open up that can of Purefoods Sexy Chix Shredded Chicken Arrabiata and pour a couple of spoonfuls on top of your veggies.

You can also substitute this with your favorite Sexy Chix variant, they have Sexy Chix Chicken Chunks in Guiltless Broth, Sexy Chix Chicken Chunks Hainanese Style, and Sexy Chix Chicken Chunks Adobo.

Lastly, get your yogurt sauce and pour a spoonful on top of your veggie wrap!

Chickilicious - Reinventing Chicken the XXL Way

In search of new food places to try, we recently discovered a restaurant that just opened last November at SM City North EDSA called Chickilicious. We decided to give this new place a try and see what they have to offer.

According to their Facebook page, Chikilicious is a restaurant concept franchised from Taiwan. Chickilicious has branches in different countries such as Malaysia, China, Cambodia, Japan, and Australia to name a few.

We visited their SM City North EDSA branch located at the Upper Ground Floor of The Annex Building. The store is located in the far end of the mall together with other new restaurants.

A menu board is posted outside as well as inside for people to quickly choose what they will get, their place is also well lit and adorned with bright colors that gets you in the mood to eat.

They have 7 kinds of chickens to choose from and some of which you need to choose a flavor. We decided to get their Golden Fried Chicken and picked their Lime Pepper Salt flavor, we also got their Pizza Chickilicious paired with their Taiwan Ultra Lemon Juice and lastly, we got a serving of their Baked Cheese French Fries.

After waiting for around 10 to 15 minutes, our orders arrived and we we're surprised on how big their chickens are. They are not kidding when they said their chickens as XXL, it's almost the same size as my face!

Golden Fried Chicken with Lime Pepper Salt Flavor (125php)
Pizza Chickilicious (150php)
Baked Cheese French Fries (80php)

Of course, the real basis is how does it taste? I personally love the Golden Fried Chicken paired with their Line Pepper Salt flavor, the tangy with pepper-y taste is really delicious. Their Pizza Chickilicious on the other hand needs improvement when it comes to looking like a legit pizza because right now, it just looks like a Golden Fried Chicken with a tiny amount of cheese on top.

One thing I love about Chickilicious' enormous fried chicken is how big they are without compromising the meat. Some restaurant just pound their chicken until they are thin to make them look big. Chickilicious' chicken has thick meat that doesn't look like it was pounded so much just to be big!

Overall, Chickilicious is a place I would gladly return to if I'm craving for extra large amounts of fried chicken. I also want to return soon and try their Choco Demon Chickilicious which looks like a piece of their Golden Fried Chicken drizzled with chocolate syrup, I want to taste how the combination works.

If you want to visit them and they their ginormous chicken servings, below is their complete address;

An Unexpected Delicious Treat: 8 Street Bites

I enjoy eating and I enjoy it even more when I discover new places to eat around my area. Recently I've been exploring for a new place to eat in SM City North EDSA, which is just a short walk from my place and my hungry tummy lead me to Sky Garden's newest restaurant called 8 Street Bites.

Located at the Sky Garden, 8 Street Bites is a new restaurant that serves American style comfort food such as burgers, fries, and shakes. Their exterior is simple yet refreshing and has that young vibe look while the interiors are filled with notes from customers and street signage decals that goes very will with their name.

We decided to give them a try after checking out their menu posted outside their restaurant, which is by the way really enticing as they included photos for each item on their menu!

It was late Saturday afternoon and there are a few empty tables when we arrived but the place is getting full as we arrived. We decided to sit at the far end of the restaurant and their servers immediately gave us their menu for us to check out. 8 Street Bites is a semi self-service (if there's such a thing. lol) place as customers need to go to the counter to place their order.

We decided with our orders and I went to the counter to order & pay. By the way, aside from burgers, fries, and shakes, they also serve soups, rice meals, pasta, assorted barbecue meals, and desserts. Their food items are quite affordable with price ranging from around P50 to P300.

After placing my order, I asked for their free Wi-Fi password and went back to my table, I have to say their internet connection is really fast and will help you take your mind away from waiting for the food to arrive.

Our orders are served one by one after around 10 minutes, which is great for those who are already hungry. We order a couple of their Share-A-Bite items, a pasta from their Pasta Lane, a couple of drinks.

Cheese Nachos, P88
Cheesy Cheese Fries, P78
We first tried their Cheesy Cheese Fries and Cheesy Nachos with Salsa Dip. The fries are quite okay and the serving is generous, although I wanted it more cheesy as they just light dusted the fries with cheese powder, as for the Nacho, it was good but again it's not that cheesy. Both are still good despite that though.

Tomato, Mushroom, n' Basil Pasta, P98
We were surprised that their Tomato, Mushroom, n' Basil Pasta is just P98! The serving is just right and the paste was topped with some shredded nachos which added an extra texture to the dish. It was definitely delicious and flavorful. I love it!

Lastly, we tried their best seller, Frostea which is just Frozen Iced Tea (think slurpee), it was good and gave me a good amount of brain freeze after accidentally slurping too much for a couple of times. The most memorable item on the things we ordered is their Salted Oreo Milk Shake! It has the right mix of saltiness, creaminess, and sweetness which hits the spot after munch on those salty treats.

Frostea (Frozen Iced Tea), P48 and Salted Oreo Milk Shake, P78

Overall, our first 8 Street Bites experience is delicious and we'll definitely return again to try their burgers and BBQ's! We recommend this place for couples or barkadas as their food are great for sharing.

8 Street Bites is located at SM City North EDSA Sky Garden near SM Annex. They also have a branch in Manila at SM City Manila, 4th Level. They are both operating during mall hours and also accept take-away for people on the go.

Making Fiesta Extra Special with Clara Ole!

Fiesta aside from the holiday season is one of those occasion every year that every family prepares so much in advance and of course the star of the celebration are the food! But sometimes, you're left with the question on what to prepare, this is where Clara Ole comes in.

If you're not familiar with Clara Ole, they produce some amazing products that makes cooking more fun, quick, and delicious. From instant pasta sauces, salad dressings, fruit jams, to marinades and more, they have it. They recently did a series of Clara Ole Potluck parties and I was invited to the final leg with a fiesta theme by my friends Ken and Mhel, the duo behind Certified Foodies.

It was a Sunday just after a few days of non-stop rain that caused work and class suspension throughout the metro and we're glad to see the sun back just in time for our awaited Clara Ole Fiesta. Before entering the venue, attendees were given colorful paper plates and markers where we were asked to put our best Fiesta food tip where the best one gets a prize.

When we entered the venue, the smell of the food is definitely divine! It's not a fiesta if you're not using your hands and we definitely need to use it because it's a boodle fight. Ken and his Mom actually prepared more than 10 dishes for the party and they all used different Clara Ole products which made the food more special.

Before digging in to the delicious look feast, our hosts welcomed us and did a quick tour on how they prepared the food. Chef Kat from Wicked Kitchen (which I by the way love, especially their desserts) gave a quick demo on the anatomy of a delicious boodle feast and how make it look instagram-ready.

Clara Ole also gave an awesome idea on our favorite putok-batok snack, Chicharon. They let us try dipping it in their new Vinaigrette that comes in different uniquely named variants. For the chicharon they recommend their My, My Parmesan!, Sesame Mucho, and Orange You Glad!. Out of the 3, I personally like the Orange You Glad as it gave that special sour but refreshing kick to my chicharon.

After digging in to the delicious boodle feast, we proceeded to the fun part of any fiesta, the games! First game of the day is Pinoy Henyo with two teams playing - Ken versus Ms. Amy Perez-Castillo's team. I'm with Ms. Amy's team and we lost to the word lechon. Other games of the day includes an exciting game of Agawang Dahon and Going to the Market.

The fiesta ended with some awesome Clara Ole party favors for everyone to use at home. I already started using mine and they are definitely easy to incorporate in different dishes, I especially love their line of Salad dressings and pasta sauces!

My Dream Potluck Party

I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, I normally do it for my family but on special occasions I'll gladly cook for a bigger number of people. From Pinoy, Korean, to desserts, I explore my passion for cooking more by experimenting with new dishes. Check out some of the treats that came out of my kitchen;

For now I think my dream potluck party is for my upcoming birthday on September. I'm already planning on what to cook on my special day like what I always do every year and with the help of Clara Ole, I think I'll come up with new dishes to try.

Some of the dishes on my list are Seafood Paella using Clara Ole's Ora Mix Mo Paella Mix, Mango Cake with Cherries using Clara Ole's Mango Jam & Maraschino Cherries, and maybe experiment on new salad ideas using Clara Ole's Vinaigrette and dressings, lastly some Chicken Inasal which I haven't tried yet. I'll definitely finalize my birthday menu soon and update you! ;)
