Shipping from the US to Philippines Made Easy with LBC Shipping Cart

Sunday, November 01, 2015 Alexis Mendoza 148 Comments

Online shopping is fun and convenient, just click a few times and viola, your orders are on the way. The only problem when buying things from outside the country is shipping, it’s either too expensive or too long to get delivered. Add to the hassle of buying internationally is the hassle of dealing with customs once your item successfully arrives in the Philippines.

In search of a way to shop, ship, and save, I searched online and found a few services that do forwarding from the US to the Philippines. I actually tried one a couple of years ago but it’s expensive and you still need to pick up your package in one of their branches instead of delivering it door to door. I recently found myself searching for new forwarding service since I wanted to buy this book that is not available in the country already, that’s when I found LBC Shipping Cart.

LBC Shipping Cart is a service from LBC where they’ll give you a US address so you can shop online and get it delivered to your US address, once it arrives to their warehouse in California, you have to option to shop more and consolidate before shipping or just immediately ship your item.

What's great about them is that the cost that will show up upon payment of your package is the only thing you need to pay; no other payment needs to be done once your package arrives in the Philippines. Best of all, they deliver your package straight to your door!

FIRST TIME WITH LBC SHIPPING CART

What made me decide to go with LBC Shipping Cart is because the book that I wanted is 3 lbs heavy and they have the cheapest rate. Also, the book I wanted was on sale for only $3 at Amazon. I registered at www.lbcshippingcart.ph it's now www.shippingcart.com and immediately got my ‘US Address’ that I can use when buying stuff online in the US. I added it to my Amazon addresses and ordered July 18th via Standard Shipping.

Days passed and it was marked shipped. After that, I managed to track where my order is via the convenient USPS website, it was July 29th when the package was marked delivered. At the same day, I also received an email from LBC Shipping Cart confirming the receipt of my order from Amazon.

It popped up in my items list August 1st. One thing to note about LBC Shipping Cart is that they open your package and takes a photo of it for you to see in your items list. Once your item arrives in your items list, there will be two options on how you will ship it, via air or sea, the latter is cheaper but takes longer to arrive in the Philippines.

You have 30 days free storage time so you can wait for other items if you want them to consolidate and ship them at the same time but since this is the only item I ordered, I decided to ship out right away. I picked via Air and immediately got the final computation of how much I have to pay.

I proceeded to check out and used a discount coupon active during that time which is Prime24 to celebrate Amazon Prime Day; it gave me a 24% discount. I decided to pay via PayPal, but the first few attempts to complete my check out gave me an error, it took me several tries before my payment got through.

A couple of days later – August 3rd, I received an email from Shipping Cart informing me that my package has been shipped; it also included a tracking number. My package’s arrival date got moved a few times before it was delivered 10 days later, August 13th.

My book is placed safely inside an LBC Box with extra air plastics. Also placed inside the box is the photo they took of my item when it arrived in their warehouse. Maybe they use this make sure nothing get left behind in their warehouse before ship out.

Overall, I love my first time experience with LBC Shipping Cart as it only took 13 days from check-out, shipment, to delivery, also no hassle of dealing with customs! So let’s see how long it took from ordering to deliver;

Amazon:
July 18th – July 29th = 12 Days

LBC Shipping Cart:
August 1st – August 13th = 13 Days

SECOND TIME USING LBC SHIPPING CART

Second time using LBC Shipping Cart is much convenient than the first one since I already know what to do. This time, I decided to buy multiple items from Ebay, some are via bidding – one of which is an original Tommy Hilfiger walking shorts that I won for only $13 instead of the SRP $64!

The only difference this time is that my packages came from different sellers and I have to track them each until they all arrive safely in my US Address. Once it all shows up in your items list, you can just check them all and choose your shipping method. It was October 22nd when I shipped them out of the warehouse to the Philippines.

If you’re curious on what is the ‘Insured Value Item’ there, that’s just additional insurance for your items. You can actually put whatever amount you want in that field like the actual value of your item, it’s free as long as it does not exceed $100 as insurance is free up to $100, it will also not change your grand total. I paid them via PayPal again & never experienced any error this time, I also used a discount code I saw online WEEKEND12 where I got a 12% off to my total check out bill. Sweet!

I unfortunately forgot to screenshot my check out for my second transaction but the total weight is also around 3lbs like my first one and the total is 1,176php but because I use a discount code, grand total went down to 1,050php.

A week passed and I almost forgot about my order, I checked online October 27th and surprised to see my items are already out for delivery. It turns out that it was faster this time than the first time I ordered.

And true enough, it was late afternoon of the same day when the LBC delivery guy rang our doorbell and handed me the box. The box this time is bigger than my last order, they used a Small Balikbayan Box when they consolidated my orders.

Inside are my orders all placed securely. What I like about them is that they take it out of their individual boxes and just consolidate them into the tiniest box available for them to fit everything, this saves you money compared to other companies who ships out WITH box for each package, some even don’t offer consolidation.

I guess I found my new favorite US to Manila forwarding service. It’s convenient, fast, and gets the job done with the hassle of dealing with customs or additional surprise charges once it arrives in the country. Have you tried LBC Shipping Cart? Let us know your experience in the comments below!

    1. Hello Jayboy!

      Thanks for appreciating my review.

Unfortunately, I forgot to screenshot the official weight of the my 2nd transaction, I think it was almost the same as the first one at 3lbs and the total cost is 1,176php then I used a 12% off voucher so my total check-out price is only 1,050. :)

    1. Hello!

LBC never leaves packages at home when no one is around. LBC will just try again then after 3 attempts they will contact you to arrange pick up of package in their nearest branch in your area.

  6. Hi, I plan to buy a barbell and bumper plate set from Rogue Fitness in the US so I can start making a home gym. I want to use LBC Shipping Cart's Sea Cargo for it. Do you think LBC will accept my items?

    1 x 45lbs Barbell 84" x 3" x 3"
    10 x 45lbs Bumper plates 3.25" x 18" x 18"
    2 x 35lbs Bumper plates 2.75" x 18" x 18"
    2 x 25lbs Bumper plates 2" x 18" x 18"
    2 x 15lbs Bumper plates 1.375" x 18" x 18"
    2 x 10lbs Bumper plates 1" x 18" x 18"

That's a total of 665lbs. I read in their FAQ's that they don't ship items in commercial quantities which is more than 12 pcs. of the same item. As you can see I have 18 pcs of Bumper plates but of different weight variations. I don't think they will allow shipment my items in 1 box. But do you think they'll allow me to ship my items in separate boxes to adhere to the commercial quantity rule? I've been emailing them for the longest time and they don't reply at all. I'd appreciate it if you can help me.

    Thanks.

    1. Hello!

That's a little too heavy, your plan might work if you ship it out on different shipments but it will cost you a lot of cash.

Have you checked if those gym equipment are available here in the Philippines? You might save money if you find a local seller.

  7. Hi!

I'm buying everything from Rogue Fitness USA since the equipment I've found locally just doesn't cut it for me. I did a few calculations on shipping cart's calculator, and it comes out to around 9500 PHP - 10000 PHP if I do 3 sea cargo shipments.

1 x shipment for the Barbell
    45lbs 84x3x3
PHP 2000 give or take a few hundred

2 x shipment for the weights
    310lbs 24x18x18
    PHP 4028

This is what I came up with and the fee seems reasonable and I have a BDO card so I can avail of the 15% shipping fee discount haha! I just hope shipping cart allows multiple shipments from 1 person. As far as I can understand my plan adheres to all their rules. What do you think? Suggestions are appreciated. :)

    Thanks

You pay the item to the merchant where you bought it, in my case my first shipment sa Amazon ako nagbayad ng item na binili ko then they shipped it out to the LBC Warehouse in California. I only paid for the shipping to the Philippines sa LBC. :)

      Hope this helps.

  9. Hello! I read their FAQ and it states that I need to file form 1583 if USPS will deliver my package. I bought something from Amazon and it will be delivered by USPS. Seeing from your post what seems like USPS has delivered your package, did you file any form 1583?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hello Andre!

Yes you are right, I ordered via Amazon on my first order and no I didn't filed a form 1583 like what is stated in their website. My order arrived to their warehouse and they released it without that document. :)

  10. I'm glad that your experience was good. I wish my latest one went as well as yours.

I hope you don't mind but I'm posting this here so that other consumers can see both sides of the LBC Shipping Cart experience.

The Shipping Cart--unfortunately--doesn't live up to its claim because it's neither fast nor reliable. Super sad with my latest experience (my sixth package in three months, mind you.) They always say they "attempt" delivery (three days in a row) but claim I'm always "out" or that the "house was closed"--making it my fault. First off, the delivery address isn't a house (they would've known that if they had actually gone there). The delivery address is open 24/7--even on holidays. It never closes. Second, I left an authorization letter, which means that--technically--it shouldn't matter if I'm there or not (but I was there, btw). Third, guard/receptionist said that there were actually no delivery attempts made. As a die-hard eBayer, finding out that LBC Shipping Cart lies and is generally unreliable is heartbreaking. LBC Shipping Cart has lost a fan. I hope they at least get that package to me before Chrissy *like they promised they would* (Remember that "ship on or before December 10 and get it before Christmas e-mail" they sent?). Everybody else, be warned. Don't use this service if you have a time frame you'd like to stick to.

Did your friend sent it through your LBC Shipping Cart account address? If yes, I think they are still updating tracking of your package, better check your Shipping Cart account from time to time so you can see if it's in your list of items in their warehouse. Once you see it, you can initiate shipping it out to the PH. :)

  33. In your post above where you ordered from different sellers & consolidated them in one box for LBC to ship to the Philippines, may I ask if they included all of the invoices they received from the sellers inside your one big package?

I'm asking this because in one of the packages I shipped to their warehouse, 1 out of the 3 items was missing in the picture they took but the weight indicated was definitely for 3 items, only two was accounted for in my account. Hope their warehouse employee handling my account did not take it =( My worry is they might point fingers and say na kulang ang nilagay na items ng seller when there is an invoice provided for when they receive packages shipped to their warehouse kung ilan talaga to double check.

I mentioned this because in my previous package they received in their warehouse, their employee who takes the photograph & weighs the item, inputted "62.00 lbs" instead of "0.62 lbs" for two pieces of shirt, hassle pa ayosin. Don't they double check with what their eyes are seeing? Lumaki mata ko nung nakita ko na Php 19,069 ang shipping charge for two pieces of shirt! *sigh*

    1. Hello Janina!

For Shipping Cart, Shipping fees are computed based on the following formulas:

AIR & SEA CARGO = Chargeable Weight (whichever is higher between Actual Weight or Volumetric Weight) x Rate + Fixed Fee

All rates are computed using pounds as the unit of measurement and U.S. Dollars, then converted to Peso using the Shipping Cart exchange rate, which is subject to change.

Please note that despite the industry standard of rounding up the chargeable weight to the nearest pound, they do not round up for Air and Sea Cargo.

You can visit their website and check out shipping estimate calculator. :)

    1. Hello!

Based on their latest newsletter, it seems they are trying out a new system which reduces processing time - this includes not taking photos of items they received but only receipts. You can get in touch directly with LBC Shipping Cart regarding this. :)

  42. Hello, what do you do if USPS came on a weekend to the LBC office? They delivered my order on a Friday night but of course business hours were wee past that. I contacted both LBC shipping cart and the online store I bought the items from. In this case, where will the responsibility for delivery lie and how much leeway do they give to deliver the package?

Also, I had an eBay order that came in last July 13th but up until now, it hasn't been tracked and I'm worried that my Amazon order was first put in Storage first over the item from eBay. How do I manage to help them consolidate my items for shipment then?

    Thanks!

    1. Hello!

USPS normally delivers weekdays unless noted to deliver on a weekend. But for your case, it's best if you contact LBC and inform them of the situation.

Really sorry for the late response as I didn't get notifications for new emails.

Im planning to buy an item again in the US and i dont want to experience this again so im asking this question humble & kindly"
1, Does the LBC is very reliable?
2, Does it shipped very quickly?
3, Do they carefully handle my item?
4, Will they be cleared fast in the custom?

Thank you i want to here the answer of those who tried it.

    1. Hey Stark!

      Yeah, customs in the PH is such a hassle to deal with. I already experienced how insane they charge before - really traumatizing. To answer your q's;

      1. I think with my experience, they are reliable.
      2. Via Air Cargo, it ships within 10 business days.
      3. Yes they do and consolidate them properly in boxes with bubble wraps / air packs.
      4. Yes, no additional charge and they will deliver it straight to your door.

      Hope this helps!

How do you pay your orders from Amazon? I don't have any CC. I only have a debit card and funds from Paypal. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    1. Hello Tiffany!

I usually pay via VISA. If you don't have a Credit Card, you can use your debit as long as it has a Master Card or Visa logo, unfortunately they don't accept Paypal since it's under their competitor Ebay. If your debit doesn't have VISA or Master Card, you can get reloadable ones like BPI Amore Prepaid, Unionbank EON Card (which I use), and Globe Mastercard.

      Hope this helps!

  47. I'm disappointed with LBC's service, I have received a samsung galaxy tab and a gopro hero from amazon, things were alright and 3 days after it was delivered to their warehouse It appeared in my account. I paid for the shipments via air cargo in august 3 and the Estimated time of arrival is August 18 , LBC is too slow to reply to inquiries and August 15 came and I received an email that they lost my samsung galaxy tablet ( Strange that their are alot of complaints regarding lost electronics ) , It sucks to wait and end up being told they just lost it. I will never use LBC shipping cart ever again.

  49. Shipping Cart used to be excellent (circa 2015). They used to consolidate all your items by removing all excess packaging and putting it in the smallest box possible then weighs it. Now they measure the box that the US courier used and use that as basis for charging you even though they discard it when consolidating (higher fees to you, more profit for them). It's not fraud since they disclose it in the FAQ. That came out earlier this year.

Sometimes they photograph the receipt only instead of the actual item/s so there is no way of knowing if the US courier box is really that big. You just have to trust Shipping Cart to not screw you. I was charged 16lbs for 4 pieces of shirt while a week earlier I was only charge 2.7lbs. Go figure.

Contacting their customer service will test your patience. It took 7 days for them to respond only to tell me they cannot accommodate my request of using a smaller box. I figure to just use sea cargo instead of trying to contact them and risk getting charged storage fee. Even though they are claiming to waive storage fees until further notice you still see the countdown in your account. Use at your own peril.

Interesting bit about the consolidation and them measuring the box when it got delivered to them. Hope they return to the old ways though. :)

  52. Hi Sell,
It's up to you if you want to use their service, but I would suggest not for now as they have a large number of complaints recently due to lost packages, missent items or incorrect items on customer's dashboard. I'm one of the affected customers and in my case, my item was delivered in the warehouse, they were able to photographed it - I paid the shipping. Then after two weeks with no updates and a couple of follow-ups, they e-mailed me that they weren't able to locate my items and offered me for a claim. Despite for the claim they would try to search for it for the next 30 days. I've read a comment on FB that the team in the US would conduct another check starting on the 5th until the 7th of Sep to identify and match items on the bins. Awaiting for some results mid week and hopefully this would shed some light.

Send me a email on the 12th telling me they are suspending operations on the 9th??? Who does that? Their only grace is that they will ship Lithium Batteries. It takes around 3-5 days before it shows up in your cart starting from the day you got the notification from LBC that they received your parcel. Although, expect some delays now because they just upgraded their facility and still catching up on backlogs because they suspended operations for a few days last month.

    1. Hi Vicky this is Nina. I tried it already. And much better kung cheap lang yung mga items at di masyado mabigat. Cons: You need to pick it up from your City/Towns Phil Post Office and pay for the tax.

Hayyy. Yun lang.

I received an email early in the morning telling me the package is 'shipped' then when I checked the tracking included in the email, it says it's already out for delivery. Later that day, it got delivered to my place.

You need to input the amount of your item (excluding shipping fee from seller to Shipping Cart Warehouse, if there's any) in numerical format - so if it's $50.00usd, you'll just input '50' and so on.

      Thanks!

It's a flat door-to-door delivery fee of US$10.00 for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on top of your shipping fee from the US to your door here in the Philipines.

So if you're total shipping fee from US to PH is 1,500, add $10 (around 500) for door-to-door delivery of your package. You may do shipping estimates here: https://www.shippingcart.com/estimate-shipping

      Thanks,
