Facebook Starts Beta Testing the New Facebook.com 2020

Facebook recently started their waitlist for the beta testing of the New Facebook.com that will be rolling out later this year to everyone. As of the moment, the Beta testing waitlist is by invite online and chosen users should see a notification on the top of their home screen with a link to facebook.com/new where they would need to click the 'Join the waitlist' button.

The home page features a new sleek look similar to Facebook's mobile app look but with 3 column format. The tabs for videos, marketplace, groups, and games can be found on the upper part of the home page while settings, events, and more are found on the left side of the screen. Notifications is still on the upper right of the screen but is now integrated in the screen instead of pop-up.

Profile page gets a makeover as well on the New Facebook.com with the profile photo now centered, giving a more clean look to the profile page similar to its mobile app counterpart. The search bar and notification buttons are now hovering on top instead of a solid bar like what it currently look like.

The much requested and awaited feature Dark Mode is finally coming to the New Facebook.com. The new dramatic look of the New Facebook.com's Dark Mode is great on the eyes and as Facebook said, gives your eyes a break from screen glare.

Lastly, the New Facebook.com will be giving desktop users an option not only to view and react to Facebook Stories but to also post stories via desktop, which is great not only for personal users but also for business pages who want to push out stories on Facebook.

As mentioned in the beginning of this article, the New Facebook.com 2020 Beta Testing is still by invitation via Facebook notification. If you still don't have the notification, you may check Facebook.com/new from time to time to see if you are eligible to test the new look.

In case you missed it, Jollibee - Philippines' world-renowned homegrown fast food joint and Funko - an American company that manufactures licensed pop culture collectibles, best known for its licensed vinyl figurines and bobbleheads, announced their partnership last year and released the first common variant of the Jollibee Funko Pop!.

This was then followed by the Metallic Variant with a limited edition count of 4000 that was released through partner toy retailer Big Boys Toy Store. I was lucky enough to snag an opportunity to buy one for retail price through a promo done by Big Boys Toy Store's social media.

This year, they are releasing the third variant of the iconic fast food mascot. In a recent announcement by Jollibee through their social media channels, they officially announced the Limited Edition Flocked Jollibee Funko Pop!.

In case you're not familiar with what 'Flocked' is, this figure will have a velvet-like texture - think of Jollibee mascot's felt cloth material. So soft and felt-y!

Funko later announced the same Pop! figure on their official website and revealed that the Funko Pop! figure will be a Funko Funatic Philippines Exclusive and will only be available during the upcoming Toy Con Philippines 2019 happening on June 28-30 at the SMX Convention Center.

This is only the second Funko Funatic Philippines Exclusive Funko item, the Golden Huckleberry Hound Pop Pez figure being the first and was only released to attendees of the 2018 Funko Funatic Christmas Party with a limited edition count of 600 pieces.

Swak na Swak Rebrands to Reach A More Diverse Audience

Nearly 12 years ago, a show was launched showcasing business success stories with the aim of inspiring its viewers to get into entrepreneurship and teaching them the ropes of managing an emerging business. Kabuhayang Swak na Swak has become a success and in order to offer more to its loyal viewers, the business-focused show has re-launched itself as a full-fledged lifestyle show with multiple segments discussing several topics.

The show brought in more hosts, each with their specific segments which are aimed to different viewers. For all your kikay needs, look no further than the Sheology segment. Here, Aly Sevilla, the daughter of singer Selina Sevilla talks about the latest trends in fashion and beauty. From wellness clinics, to face and skin care, to the latest releases and collections from clothing brands, expect a celebration of beauty and female style.

Meanwhile, Chinoy Hottie Louie Ngo gets up close and personal with business heirs and successors. With several companies being family run-enterprises, most company heirs were trained at a young age about the ins and outs of managing the family business to keep it running and prosperous. The Chinoypreneur segment gives viewers an intimate look at these young businesspeople as they share the lessons they learned from the best teachers – their own families and years of practical experience.

The definition of success is not merely defined as financial and Success Enthusiast
Ahmir Sinsuat is out to prove that point. His segment, Idol, is a platform to acknowledge the work done by individuals and institutions show set out to make the world a better place for everyone. It could be that one individual who has become an inspiration in the community, or a group whose members come together for a lofty and laudable advocacy. By commending these people, Ahmir also aims to inspire viewers, showing them that they too can change the world for the better through their own actions.

Filipinos put a premium on interpersonal relationships and this is most apparent in the Filipino family. Join the Momshie ng Bayan Shah Sinsuat as she sits down with experts in discussing how to raise a happy and loving family. Lighthearted yet informative, Parenting 101 segment is a must-view for newly-established families and expectant mothers everywhere. A mother herself, Shah serves as the perfect spokesperson for mothers out there as she and her guest experts discuss the ins and outs of family life while sharing tips, and tricks.

The Wanderer Ethan Salvador and Travel Buddy Shawn Kyler have been bitten by the travel bug. Viewers are enjoined to accompany them as they travel all around the Philippines. The #TravelGoals segment veers away from the usual spots. Instead, expect to find some hidden gems tucked away from the normal paths. For those looking for something or somewhere new for their next trip, let Ethan and Shawn lead the way and be pleasantly surprised at the places they find in their quest to sate their wanderlust.

Student life is also showcased in Swak na Swak. In the segment Campus Trip, Campus Crush Markus Paterson fetes the campus achievers and campus icons in schools everywhere. Watch as he gets to know the school valedictorians, sports champions, contest winners, and campus leaders. Campus Trip puts the highlight on what it means to be today’s student, from daily school life to grand events such as school fairs and other celebrations.

Of course, Swak na Swak would be remiss if it did not include a business and entrepreneurial segment. Long-time Swak na Swak hosts Bobby Yan and Dimples Romana take center stage with their 2 segments, Usapang CEO and Big Boss. Usapang CEO focuses on the history of today’s successful Pinoy entrepreneurs. The segment sheds light on their humble beginnings and their success through sheer grit, determination, and perseverance.

Meanwhile, Big Boss picks the minds of business bigwigs as they share the lessons they learned when building their business. The 2 segments continue the spirit of Swak na Swak’s first incarnation as an inspirational and informative business show and long-time viewers can rest assured that the spirit of Kabuhayang Swak na Swak still remains.

With the rebranding and relaunch of Swak na Swak, Bayan Productions, the team behind the show hopes to extend the good vibes the original show has to a more diverse audience. Operating under the motto of Pinoy Dream, Pinoy Hope, Pinoy Pride, Swak na Swak is a celebration of the success of Filipinos, not just in business, but in all aspects of life as well.

Breakout at Breakout Philippines' Newest Branch at Greenbelt 5!

If your barkada is getting tired of doing the usual activities like watching a movie or eating out then Breakout is the perfect out-of-the-box bonding experience that you are looking for!

breakout-philippines-greenbelt-1

Fresh from our Breakout experience at SM City North EDSA a few months ago, we headed to Breakout's newest branch at Greenbelt 5 to check out and try their newest rooms. Located at the 3rd level of Greenbelt 5, Breakout's newest location still features the familiar black box type lobby with wood accents and features 4 exciting new rooms for your team to try.

In case you're not familiar with Breakout and how the game works, Breakout Philippines lets you live in different scenarios with well-crafted storylines full of unexpected twists and turns that you have to solve in order to escape. Immerse yourself in an interactive game where you need to find clues and solve logic puzzles based on various storylines and themed rooms.

The goal is to ESCAPE THE ROOM IN 45 MINUTES. Players are encouraged to PLAN as a team, SOLVE puzzles collaboratively in order to ESCAPE before time expires.

Get locked-up in these rooms...

There are a total of 4 new rooms that will be available at Breakout's newest branch in Makati although only 3 are available as of this writing. Here's a quick look at the backstories of each room so you can plan ahead and pick which rooms are you going to try first.

PARANOIA

News has been going around that a ward in a particular asylum bears witness to a series of inexplicable deaths of the patients admitted there. To put an end to the mystery, the asylum was temporarily closed down so authorities can conduct further investigation.

Now, you and your team of journalists were tasked to write a story about the case, so you joined the probe and went to the asylum to do some research and see for yourselves. But upon entering, you smell the faint but unmistakable scent of the asylum… and then you hear the door lock itself shut behind you.

Will you be able to shed light on the case and help put a stop to the horrifying events? You have 45 minutes to do so, or you will be trapped forever in a perpetual state of Paranoia

CORPSE BRIDE

In your neighborhood, there was a popular dress shop owned by a newlywed couple. They ran their business with passion, and their love for each other was reflected on each and every dress they created.

However, not even a year into their wedding, the wife got extremely ill and died. Her husband, wilting in his grief, became so uninspired with his craft that the once bright and welcoming shop soon turned gloomy and desolate. Because of this, people eventually stopped visiting the shop and he lost his business. The once loyal patrons started wondering though, why was there no funeral for the wife? What if she is still alive? Where was the husband now?

Will your curiosity get you in trouble or will it shed light to the town’s unanswered questions? You have 45 minutes to unveil the secrets behind this shop, and Breakout.

ACCIDENTAL AGENT

You had a sleepover with your brother and cousins and played Truth or Dare. After intense rounds of Dares, your brother opted to be different and tried Truth. After much prodding, he ended up sharing “confidential information” that he was actually a spy for a secret organization.

Of course this was a wild claim and nobody believed him… until the next day. You wake up and notice that your brother is missing. More than that, the room is bolted from the outside and you can’t get out. You find a note by the printer, it seems to be a list of to do's. What's going on?

You have 45 minutes. Can you complete the list and breakout or will you be trapped forever?

Lastly, as mentioned earlier, there's an upcoming fourth room that will open soon and before it even open, here's a quick look on what you can expect from the fourth room. You should expect this to open really soon!

THE ISLAND

Thousands of feet above the pure blue ocean, you and your friends are in a plane, headed to your long-awaited vacation. Minutes away from paradise, the plane begins to experience extreme turbulence. As the turbulence continues...

Black. You realize that you are on a sandy beach in the middle of nowhere. You see your friends, the plane wreckage, and nothing else. You and your friends seem to be the only survivors. What happened? Where are the other passengers and cabin crew? Will you be rescued? What is this place? Where are you?

You have 45 minutes. Will you survive or will you be trapped on the Island forever?

The Experience: #TrappedForever

We tried a couple of the rooms on our visit, first was Paranoia. The experience was surreal and really immersive, it will really need the heads of everyone in order to progress into the game. Unfortunately, time got the best of us and we didn't came out victorious in this room.

The second room we tried is Corpse Bride, the backstory itself is quite interesting while the gameplay also immersed us deeply into the story. What's great about this room is that you're slowly uncovering layer after layer of the story about the couple. But just like the first room we tried, time got the best of us and we didn't come our successful BUT we reached 70% progress which is not bad.

If you're excited to give their rooms a try, make sure to reserve your rooms right away by heading to their website www.breakout.com.ph.

Secret Lives: Breakout Experience That Comes To YOU!

If the 45 minutes experience isn't enough for you then you'll be glad to know that you can experience something that can last up to a month and it's called Secret Lives.

Secret Lives is Breakout's most immersive concept to date and the goal is to complete your mission within 30 days. It might sound easy but it'll keep you busy throughout the length of your mission.

You'll receive packages filled with objects, clues, and puzzles that draw you into an interactive experience. Get ready for maps, encoded letters, encrypted flash drives, forensic evidence, photographs, and much more. The package is delivered to the location of your choice. That means you will be able to solve our puzzles in your own SPACE and PACE!

I just started my mission and just received my first set of clues. BREAKOUT Philippines Opens 4th Branch at SM City North EDSA

Escape Rooms games became a trend in the Philippines a few of years ago and it looks like Pinoys seeking for adventure and thrill kept the fire burning for these kinds of business.

breakout sm north edsa

The pioneer in the Philippines, Breakout Philippines recently just opened their fourth branch in the metro at SM City North EDSA and we had the chance to visit them on their first weekend to see what they offer for the northerners

breakout philippines sm city north edsa facade

Breakout Philippines' fourth branch is located at The Block and features a minimalist black box type lobby with wood accent that really sets the mood for some mystery adventure.

Step inside the room...

Breakout Philippines - SM City North EDSA current offers two rooms that you can try - Boogeyman and Zombie Cabin. We heard that they will be offering two more rooms soon to make the total playable rooms four.

And because we are there, we decided to give one of their rooms a try and see if we can get out within the allotted time - with me that day was my friend Ken from ChibogPinoy.com

We're both a fan of The Walking Dead and tried their Zombie Cabin, we cannot document what happened inside the room but let's just say we ended up looking like panicking rats inside a cage... with a zombie. haha!

My defeated face together with one of their lovely staff who assisted us at Breakout - The Block

Unfortunately, we didn't come out victorious during our game. But like what they said, that's alright because you learn from your mistakes and use what you learned on your next breakout game. It's definitely a fun experience to do with your friends - especially if you're a large group.

Breakout Philippines - SM City North EDSA is now open for you to play with friends. Visit them by checking the address below or by visiting their website www.breakout.ph.
